Compassionate Inquiry is an approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that explores the relationship between our present-day experiences, underlying beliefs, emotional patterns and the ways these can show up in the body. It uses curiosity and compassion to bring greater awareness to the patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves, others and the world.
I draw from Compassionate Inquiry alongside my other training and experience in supporting people through personal exploration and transformation.
-
No. I am not a licensed therapist or counsellor, and these sessions are not psychotherapy or a substitute for mental-health treatment.
My work draws from Compassionate Inquiry, trauma-informed approaches, body awareness, coaching, meditation and my experience working within mental-health and substance-use settings. The work is focused on personal exploration, self-awareness and transformation rather than diagnosing or treating mental-health conditions.
-
Our work is rooted in the belief that you are your own authority and the sovereign agent of your own healing and change.
Any guidance, insights or recommendations offered in sessions are intended to support personal reflection, self-awareness and empowerment.
While I bring my training, experience and intuitive insights to each session, you remain the ultimate authority over your own choices, boundaries and wellbeing.
I encourage you to use your own discernment and seek appropriate professional support where needed.
-
Sessions are relational and exploratory, with space to slow down and become curious about what is happening beneath the surface.
Depending on what is present, we may explore thoughts, emotions, sensations in the body, patterns in relationships, beliefs, protective strategies, or experiences from your past.
There is no prescribed process that you need to follow. We work with what is alive and meaningful for you in the moment, at a pace that respects your capacity and boundaries.
-
Sometimes meaningful exploration can bring difficult emotions, memories or sensations to the surface. I don't believe you need to force yourself into anything before you are ready.
We will work at a pace that honours your boundaries and capacity, with an emphasis on curiosity, choice and staying connected to what is happening in the present moment.
-
All sessions, whether conducted in person, via phone, or video call, are confidential.
The only exceptions are where we are required or permitted by law to disclose information, including in certain circumstances involving a serious concern for someone’s health or safety.
Practical Information
-
Sessions typically range from 60-90 minutes in length.
Sessions can have a quality of timelessness to them when you are deep in your process.
I endeavour to not interrupt while something important is emerging, however, may bring the time to your awareness when we are approaching 90 minutes.
-
Due to the personalised nature of our work, sessions, consultations and retreats are non-refundable once booked.
Clients may reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, as well as missed sessions, will generally be considered forfeited.
We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. If you need to cancel or reschedule due to an emergency, please contact us and we will consider the circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
We may also need to reschedule a session due to illness, personal circumstances or an emergency. In such cases, we will offer to reschedule at a mutually agreed time or, where appropriate, provide a refund.
Nothing in this policy limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection legislation.
-
No special preparation is required. Come as you are.
It can be helpful to arrive with something you're curious about or wanting to explore, but you don't need to know exactly what you want to work on beforehand. We can discover that together.
